Introduction
Welcome to my Story
My name is Deborah Deuro-Naughton. I was born Monica Varga Barany and was adopted as an infant. I have spent a great part of my life searching for my birth family and history. With the help of family, friends and strangers,I have found much of what I have been searching for. I am continuing my search for the remainder of information that is unknown to me.
This site includes the history of my search for my birth family. Included is an Hungarian televised documentary
( with subtitles) which includes a visit with my dad at his home and my meeting with Government officials in Budapest. There are English and Hungarian versions of a magazine article about me, a photo gallery of the visits with my new found family and the beautiful city of Budapest. Lastly, a personal blog in which I share my thoughts and experiences as Monica and Deborah co exists and share in the ups and downs, joy and sadness, longing and gratitude, as they are all part of me.
Why Go to Hungary?
I have made several trips to Budapest, Hungary before and after I found family. The first visit was in 2003 when my husband and I travelled to Hungary to begin the search in the country my birthmother was from.
Who I am?
I am Deborah. A wife, mother, retired teacher and life long learner. I am passionate about my family and friends and spending time with those I love. I enjoy reading, travel, gardening and being active in my community.
I am also Monica. An adoptee who needed to know where I came from, who my birth family is and why I was placed for adoption.
I can be strong willed, determined, and a hopeless believer in love can conquer all. I am grateful and blessed to have taken part in finding what I needed and have the support and love of my family as I continue to discover who I am.
